Throughout chapter 7, the theme of "designing for the ease of learning" was reflected through several points made by Hoekman, one of which was to maintain consistence. The importance of consistency when dealing with multiple applications is so users can quickly catch on with how to navigate the interface, perform the necessary tasks, etc. It also allows for designers to see what actually works and what doesn't so improvements can be built on another. Another thing that was elaborated on is the use of "bananas." "Bananas" are things that tell the user what to do and how to do it. A good example of a site that uses "bananas" is http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/index.html. This site places a lot of emphasis of content, the proportion of the content to advertisements, etc, is great, and it uses the "bananas" theme by telling its users exactly what to click on when placing an order, how to search for similar items, how to provide reviews and rate the supplements, etc.
