Blog 12 and 13

At the beginning of this course, I wasn't at all sure about what this game was or how it was played. It seemed somewhat complicated and at times still is depending on the task we're given to complete. But, much like baseball, HCI Design is learned by taking baby steps and getting introduced to new rules as you play and advance in the game. The more you do it, the better you get. And, like baseball, it seems the only way to win at this game is to be team oriented because there is a lot to consider when designing something and there's a lot that can be learned from listening to someone else's perspective on an issue or design idea. Some things I'm taking away from this course are: 1) Designing for the user is more important than designing for oneself, 2)Keep your work simple and make sure everything is coherent and explicit as possible, and 3) Iterate Iterate Iterate, because no design is perfect and there's always something that can be improved through continual redesign. Also, one more thing I'd like to note is that after taking this class, I find myself looking at different designs, whether it be how web pages are constructed or how simple household materials are designed, and after doing that I always critique them in my mind by deciding if the design works or not.
